"Inactive Handicaps"
Following new handicapping rules being introduced by CONGU in 2010 and inline with CONGU & EGU guidelines the Committee have agreed the following rules will be effective at Horne Park Golf Club.
Knockouts
From January 2010 any member wishing to play in the Men’s singles, Men’s pairs, Mixed pairs, Winter Mixed Pairs or Bill Bennett winter pairs must have an “active handicap” on the date of the draw to enter. The committee reserve the right to give an exemption in exceptional circumstances (such as illness) only.
It was also agreed that a new club rule be put in place regarding Stroke Play competitions organised by the Competition Secretary as follows:
Stroke Play Competitions
With effect from 31st May 2010 any member with an “inactive handicap” will be allowed to enter stroke play competitions but will not be allowed to win any prize awarded for any handicap results. Any player with an “inactive handicap” may win prizes such as Nearest the Pin, any 2’s sweep or a Scratch result such as The Club Championship. The Competition Committee may charge a reduced entry fee for any “inactive competitor”. In addition the Competition Committee reserve the right to state handicap limits for entry into certain competitions.
