Joe & his playing partner Harry were the final pairing. The other 5 groups had already finished and Surrey were just in the lead (Surrey 3 v Essex 2).

They arrived at the 15th tee 2 down with 4 holes to play needing at least a half from their game to ensure Surrey won the match. They win the 15th to bring themselves back to 1 down with 3 to play. The 16th and 17th are halved so it's all down to the last hole.

With his approach shot Joe ends up a foot off the green with 2 putts to win the hole, halve their game and ensure a win for Surrey (Nervous, just a little!). He rolls his first putt to a "simple" tap-in distance and converts his second. Job done and Surrey win.

Sam Lloyd and Joe Lloyd have been part of the Surrey U12 squad since 31st May 2010. They have played in several practice matches but were eagerly waiting for their first "real" match.

Their patience and practice has been rewarded with selection to play in the U12 match against Essex. The match will take place at Bramley Golf Club on Tuesday 26th October. The boys also have a practice round on Sunday 24th October.

It will be a tough match as Essex are a strong County, their U13's narrowly beat Surrey U13's earlier in the season and they will be out to make it a double over Surrey.

NEWSFLASH: Unfortunately 1 day after the practice round but 1 day before the match Sam has broken his toe and is unable to play. The young man is devastated but we're sure he will get other opportunities before long.
